Congress Questions BJP's Support for Dharmendra Pradhan

New Delhi, July 27 - The Congress party has taken aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the reception given to former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan by some BJP MPs in Parliament on Monday. They raised concerns over the appreciation for Pradhan amidst issues like paper leaks, a deteriorating education system, and alleged police brutality against students involving batons and pellet guns. Pradhan was welcomed by BJP members upon his arrival in Parliament after resigning from his ministerial position, with Gopalji Thakur, the Lok Sabha member from Darbhanga, adorning him with a traditional 'pag' (Mithila cap).

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh expressed his discontent in a post on 'X', criticizing the BJP MPs for celebrating Pradhan as if he had achieved a significant milestone. He accused Pradhan of shifting blame onto students rather than apologizing for the paper leaks during his resignation. Ramesh noted that following this incident, all central ministers took to social media to commend Pradhan.

Ramesh stated, 'We believe this entire episode is extremely disgraceful and a severe insult to the youth of the nation.' He urged the BJP to clarify whether Pradhan's actions were commendable despite the paper leaks, the failing education system, and the violent treatment of students. He questioned, 'If not, what is the basis for this honor? And if yes, does the BJP intend to convey this message to the youth and students of the country?'
