Congress Calls Out Home Minister's Absence in Parliament

New Delhi, August 8 - The Congress party expressed concerns on Saturday regarding Home Minister Amit Shah's failure to address questions from MPs in the House, claiming that this has led to ongoing disruptions in parliamentary proceedings. With only four working days left in the current monsoon session, they urged Shah to respond to police actions against protesting students. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated in a post on 'X' that the continuous disruption of parliamentary work for the past 15 days is primarily due to the Home Minister's refusal to make a statement regarding police actions in both Houses.

Ramesh accused Shah of spending hours in his office within the Parliament complex while avoiding direct engagement with MPs and questions about the Delhi police's actions. He emphasized, 'The Home Minister must first address the excesses of the police.'

The Congress leader pointed out that the Delhi police operate directly under the Home Minister's authority, making it imperative for him to come to the House and address this issue. He labeled Shah's consistent absence from the sessions as 'unprecedented.'

Ramesh insisted that the Home Minister should clarify his stance on police actions. He also called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to respond to allegations regarding 'donations theft' and 'deception of faith' related to the Ram Temple Trust. Ramesh reminded that Modi himself announced the formation of the Ram Temple Trust in the Lok Sabha on February 5, 2020.

He further alleged that the Trust, chosen by the Prime Minister, has betrayed the trust and faith of all Indians, asserting that the Prime Minister cannot remain silent on this matter. Criticizing both the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, Ramesh stated that this duo is skilled at making grand statements and empty boasts, but their 'cowardice' has now been fully exposed.
