Congress Accuses BJP of Undemocratic Practices Amid TMC Leadership Exodus

In a recent statement, Congress leader Gulam Ahmed Mir accused the BJP of employing undemocratic tactics like 'vote theft' as leaders from the TMC continue to resign. He emphasized the importance of regional parties establishing their own political identities and criticized the targeting of TMC after elections. This comes amid a wave of resignations from TMC, raising questions about the party's stability. Mir believes that only Congress can effectively challenge the BJP's influence and called for unity among secular parties. As Congress seeks to bolster its presence following recent electoral successes, the political landscape in West Bengal remains dynamic and uncertain.

Congress Leader Criticizes BJP's Tactics

In light of the ongoing departure of leaders from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and speculation surrounding a potential merger with Congress, Gulam Ahmed Mir, the Congress in-charge for West Bengal, accused the BJP on Thursday of employing undemocratic methods such as 'vote theft' and 'seat theft.' He emphasized that regional parties should chart their own political paths. Mir further stated that the targeting of the TMC post-elections is a blatant display of misconduct.

Discussing the rumors of a possible merger, Mir asserted that only Congress has the capability to counter the atmosphere created by the BJP's undemocratic practices. He urged other parties and regional groups to grasp this reality as soon as possible. The manner in which the TMC has been targeted after the elections is a clear indication of improper behavior. The sooner other leaders and parties understand this, the quicker they can choose their paths.

Mir stressed that Congress is uniquely positioned to effectively challenge the BJP, and he reiterated that regional parties would benefit from recognizing this truth promptly. He also clarified that Congress does not consider any party with a secular ideology as untouchable. This situation follows the resignation of TMC leader Prakash Chik Barik from the Rajya Sabha, marking the third such resignation within a week.
