Congress Challenges BJP's Efforts to Halt Student Event

On Thursday, the Congress party accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh of trying to cancel the upcoming 'Students' Voice' event in Prayagraj. Congress leaders asserted that no matter how hard the government tries, the event will proceed as planned. During a joint press conference, Congress's Uttar Pradesh in-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam, along with MPs Kishori Lal Sharma, Tanuj Punia, and Imran Masood, stated that Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, has been consistently raising student issues through this initiative, which has made the BJP anxious.

Gautam claimed that the event's management reported that the administration is pressuring them to revoke the event's permission through intimidation. He emphasized, 'Millions of students have registered for this dialogue event, and students from across the country are eagerly awaiting it. This program will take place at the designated location.' He further accused the BJP government of misusing the law and acting against the spirit of the Constitution.

He stated that organizing a peaceful and lawful assembly is a fundamental right in a democracy, and Congress is following all necessary regulations to hold the event. Gautam urged the Uttar Pradesh government and Prayagraj administration not to obstruct the program, asserting that Congress will not compromise on student issues and will continue to advocate for their rights. MP Tanuj Punia added that the BJP government aims to stop the 'Students' Voice' event out of fear of young people aligning with Rahul Gandhi.

He reiterated that Congress stands with the youth and will continue to amplify their voices.
