Concerns Rise Over Missing American Scientists Linked to UFO Research
Investigation into Missing Scientists
The Trump administration is currently examining reports indicating that at least ten American scientists engaged in UFO and nuclear energy research have either vanished or died since mid-2023, as reported by a news outlet. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt informed the media on Wednesday that she has yet to confer with the relevant agencies but assured that she would seek answers. “I haven’t spoken to our relevant agencies about it. I will certainly do that, and we’ll get you an answer,” Leavitt stated. “If true, of course, that’s definitely something I think this government and its administration would deem worth looking into.”
This situation has sparked alarm in Washington, prompting some lawmakers to call for FBI involvement. Among those reported missing or deceased are:
- Steven Garcia, a government contractor at the Kansas City National Security Campus in Albuquerque, who went missing on August 28, 2025.
- Frank Maiwald, a scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, who passed away without a public cause of death disclosed.
- Anthony Chavez, an employee at Los Alamos National Laboratory, who has mysteriously disappeared.
- Michael David Hicks, a research scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, known for his work on the DART asteroid defense project and author of over 80 scientific papers, who died on July 30, 2023, at the age of 59, with no cause of death made public.
- Monica Reza, the director of materials processing at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, who went missing in January 2025.
Representative Eric Burlison (R-MO) has been advocating for FBI investigations into the disappearances of various scientists and military personnel linked to advanced research. He expressed his concerns on social media in March, stating, “There’s a major problem with regard to missing scientists and military personnel connected to many leading-edge research that has been made through the FBI.” Additionally, Representatives like Jared Moskowitz have urged the Pentagon for greater transparency regarding UFO data, while other lawmakers have called for thorough investigations to determine the causes and accountability. The White House has yet to provide further details on how they plan to proceed with their investigation, but according to Leavitt, they are treating the matter with utmost seriousness.
