Growing Crime Worries in Haryana

Chandigarh, August 9 - Kumari Selja, a Congress MP from Sirsa, expressed significant concern on Sunday regarding the alleged rise in criminal activities within Haryana. She accused the state of experiencing a continuous decline in law and order, noting that criminals now appear to have no fear of the law.

In a statement released by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Selja highlighted that the increasing incidents of murder, robbery, extortion, and gun violence have instilled a sense of insecurity among the populace.

She urged the state government to move beyond political rhetoric and take concrete actions to improve law and order. Referring to a shooting incident outside the office of Congress MLA Balram Dangi in Rohtak, Selja remarked, “Criminals have become so audacious that they are not hesitating to commit serious crimes in broad daylight.”

Selja emphasized that if elected representatives, business owners, and shopkeepers do not feel safe, it is only natural for ordinary families to be concerned about their security.

Traditionally, Haryana has been recognized for its development, prosperity, social harmony, and hardworking farmers, soldiers, and athletes. However, she claimed that the ongoing reports of serious crimes are tarnishing the state's image.

She stated that ensuring the safety of people's lives and property is the government's foremost responsibility. “The government cannot simply claim that law and order has improved based on statistics and statements. Attention must be paid to the ground realities,” she added.
