Concerns Raised Over Transportation Issues at Khelo India University Games 2025
Team Highlights Transport Issues
The women's basketball team from the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) in Gwalior has expressed dissatisfaction regarding the transportation arrangements during the Khelo India University Games 2025. They reported that inadequate communication led them to organize their own travel just before a crucial match. Player Ankita shared her experience, stating, "We were scheduled to play at 11:30 AM and waited for the bus until 11 AM, but it never showed up. Consequently, we had to hire an auto-rickshaw, which made us arrive late for the game."
Coach and Physiotherapist Voice Concerns
Coach Dilip supported the players' claims, emphasizing that such oversights can disrupt the athletes' focus. He remarked, "These issues should not occur, especially with a match scheduled at 11:30 AM. Such lapses can mentally unsettle the team." Team physiotherapist Deepshikha elaborated on the situation, explaining that their assigned transport failed to arrive on time. "Our vehicle was supposed to be ready by 10 AM, but it left the hotel 10 minutes early without notifying us. We only learned this after contacting the driver. As a result, we had to hire autos since the match was imminent. We even video-called the Local Organizing Committee to confirm our situation," she added.
Minister Addresses the Concerns
In response to the complaints, Rajasthan Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore stated that the event is being managed to international standards and assured that transportation is functioning according to the schedule. He explained, "This is an event of international caliber taking place in Rajasthan. I have already mentioned that there are vehicles available for each team, but they operate strictly on a timetable. If any players wish to leave early, we have arranged taxis for them. There is nothing inappropriate about using a taxi for travel."
