Deepak Bhardwaj, a member of the Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) for Northern Railway, has expressed significant concerns regarding the recent suspension of the Kangra Valley rail service.

In a video statement, Bhardwaj highlighted that despite persistent advocacy at various levels, the service has been halted once again after a brief period of operation. He noted that only two trains had resumed service, and now those have also been discontinued. He raised questions about whether the service was reinstated solely for electoral purposes and publicity, questioning the rationale behind starting an incomplete service only to shut it down again.

Bhardwaj underscored the long-standing demand from the residents of Kangra Valley, emphasizing that many depend on this railway line. He posed the question, “How long will the innocent residents of Himachal have to wait for their rightful demand to be fulfilled?”

It is important to note that the Kangra Valley rail service was restarted in June 2026 after a hiatus of nearly four years. However, heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions in July led to the cancellation of several trains due to safety concerns.

As a member of the ZRUCC, Bhardwaj stated that his role extends beyond merely promoting government achievements; it also involves addressing unresolved issues. He asserted that the Kangra Valley rail service is a critical matter that demands a definitive answer and a lasting solution.
