Concerns Raised Over Rising Islamic Extremism in Bangladesh by Indian Lawmaker

Indian Congress MLA Kamalkhya Dey Purkayastha has raised serious concerns regarding the rise of Islamic extremism in Bangladesh, linking it to the actions of interim leader Mohammad Yunus. Following a recent violent incident against Hindu minorities, he called for similar actions against Bangladesh as those taken against Pakistan. Purkayastha's remarks come after Sheikh Hasina's statements expressing alarm over the situation and calling for international intervention. He urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address these pressing issues, highlighting the need for attention to the deteriorating conditions in Bangladesh.

Allegations Against Bangladeshi Leadership

Kamalkhya Dey Purkayastha, a Congress MLA from Karimganj, accused interim Bangladeshi leader Mohammad Yunus on Monday of colluding with Islamic extremists following remarks made by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Drawing parallels between Bangladesh and Pakistan, the MLA called for actions similar to those taken against India's western neighbor.

Rising Extremism and Recent Violence

Following the recent mob killing of Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh, Purkayastha expressed outrage over attacks on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. He attributed the rise of Islamic extremism in the country to Yunus's actions. Additionally, he supported Sheikh Hasina's recent statement, which highlighted Yunus's government's role in promoting Islamic influence, calling it a "serious statement."

Call for Attention from Indian Leadership

Purkayastha voiced his concerns on these critical issues and urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take notice. His comments followed an email interview with Hasina, where she expressed worries about the Islamic influence in Bangladesh and called for international intervention. She accused Yunus's government of allowing extremists into the cabinet, releasing convicted terrorists from prison, and permitting groups linked to international terrorist organizations to play roles in public life.
