Urgent Call for Leadership Stability at CIT Kokrajhar

New Delhi, Jun 9: Pramod Boro, the Rajya Sabha MP representing Assam, has voiced his concerns regarding the operational challenges faced by the Central Institute of Technology (CIT) in Kokrajhar. He has urged Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to intervene promptly to ensure the institute functions effectively.

In his correspondence with Pradhan, Boro emphasized the necessity for stable and accountable leadership on campus to prevent delays in academic and administrative decisions, thereby maintaining the trust of students, faculty, and other stakeholders.

He warned that any extended uncertainty in the leadership could negatively impact academic discipline, institutional morale, administrative efficiency, research initiatives, job placements, infrastructure development, and the overall reputation of the institute.

Boro has requested the minister to consider an immediate review of the current director-in-charge situation at CIT Kokrajhar. He suggested appointing a qualified senior faculty member, potentially the current Registrar or Campus-in-Charge, as the Director-in-Charge in accordance with the Memorandum of Association until a permanent director is appointed.

The MP pointed out that CIT Kokrajhar is a crucial technical institution for the Bodoland Territorial Region, Assam, and the broader North Eastern Region. The institute has significantly contributed to enhancing technical education, skill development, and employability, fostering a scientific mindset among the youth in a historically underserved area.

Boro reiterated the need for an urgent review of the interim leadership arrangement at CIT Kokrajhar, considering the implications outlined in the institute's Memorandum of Association.
