Concerns Raised After Bus Accident Involving Amarnath Pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir

A bus carrying pilgrims returning from the Amarnath Yatra met with an accident in Gandarbal district, injuring at least 39 individuals. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed his concern and directed officials to provide the best medical care for the injured. Accident In Gandarbal District

On July 28, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, expressed his worries regarding a bus accident involving pilgrims returning from the Amarnath Yatra in the Gandarbal district. He instructed officials to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care. According to reports, a speeding bus skidded off the road in the Kangan area of Gandarbal on Tuesday, resulting in injuries to at least 39 pilgrims. The bus lost control while navigating a turn and crashed into an empty house in Harigwan.

The incident caused significant damage to the house, but fortunately, it prevented the bus from plunging into the Sindh River. The Chief Minister's office shared a post on the social media platform 'X', stating, "The Chief Minister has expressed deep concern over the road accident in Gund, Kangan. Many pilgrims returning to Srinagar after completing the Amarnath Yatra have been injured in this incident." He has directed that all possible medical assistance be provided to the injured.

Additionally, he dispatched Health Minister Sakina Ittoo to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) to oversee the treatment of the injured.
