Withdrawal of Complaint in Controversial Case

Noida, August 4 - The complainant has retracted her complaint against a 15-year-old girl who allegedly made inappropriate remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The complainant stated that the girl has apologized, and since the Prime Minister has also forgiven her, she no longer wishes to pursue the matter. Smriti Singh, a resident of Vasundhara in Ghaziabad and a Supreme Court advocate, informed a news media outlet on Tuesday evening that initially, a case was filed against eight girls, with the girl from Noida being the primary accused.

According to Singh, a 'zero FIR' was registered on July 29 based on the complaint lodged at the Noida Expressway police station. She mentioned that the case was filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 352 (intent to provoke a breach of peace), 353(1) (statements promoting public disorder), and 356(1) (defamation). Singh added, "After the Prime Minister appealed for forgiveness, all the girls, including the minor from Noida, uploaded videos expressing their apologies.

I also released a video stating that I would withdraw my complaint if the girls apologized." She noted that subsequently, the other girls also sought forgiveness, leading her to retract her complaints against all eight cases. Singh conveyed to the news media, "Since the Prime Minister has forgiven them, I do not wish to pursue this matter further. I have informed the Delhi police and the crime branch of my decision."

Meanwhile, the family of the 15-year-old girl was not found at their residence in Noida on Tuesday. Local police reported that they had not received any complaints regarding harassment of the family. Security guards and maintenance staff at the housing society in Sector 168 mentioned to the news media that the girl seen in the viral video and her mother were not at home. One guard stated, "Since the video surfaced, the family has reduced their interactions with others, and police officials from Delhi and Noida have visited their home on several occasions."

However, the housing society staff indicated they had no information about the family's current whereabouts. Responding to allegations of harassment, an officer from the Noida Expressway police station told the news media that they had not received any reports of the family being disturbed either within the housing society or elsewhere. The officer clarified that the Noida police registered the zero FIR on the day the complaint was received and forwarded it to the Delhi police, as the alleged incident occurred in the national capital. The officer added, "Since then, the family has not been in contact with us, nor have they shared any information or complaints with the local police."

It is possible that the family has temporarily relocated to Faridabad in the neighboring state of Haryana.

On August 1, in an interview with the news media, the girl's mother expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for publicly forgiving her daughter after the incident.
