Commonwealth Sport Delegation Visits India for 2030 Games Preparations

A high-ranking delegation from Commonwealth Sport, led by President Dr. Donald Rukare, visited India to evaluate preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Amdavad. The team inspected key venues and engaged with local authorities and sports leaders to discuss progress and governance frameworks. Dr. Rukare expressed confidence in India's capabilities to deliver a landmark centenary edition of the Games. High-Level Delegation Arrives in India

On Friday, the Commonwealth Games Association (India) expressed its enthusiasm regarding the arrival of a prominent delegation from Commonwealth Sport (CS). This group, led by President Dr. Donald Rukare, included CEO Katie Sadleir and Director of Games & Assurance Darren Hall. Their visit is part of ongoing discussions related to the preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, which are set to take place in Amdavad. The delegation conducted a thorough multi-city tour from April 8 to 10, assessing essential venues and infrastructure in Amdavad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, and Ekta Nagar.


Inspection of Venues and Strategic Meetings

During their visit, the delegation inspected various competition venues, including Mahatma Mandir, Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, Narendra Modi Stadium, and IIT Gandhinagar. They also engaged in discussions with senior officials from the Government of Gujarat and local authorities. Alongside venue evaluations, the delegation met with key figures in Indian sports, including representatives from the CGA (India) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, to assess progress, governance structures, and plans for the Games. This visit follows ongoing conversations between Commonwealth Sport and Indian stakeholders aimed at enhancing the vision for the landmark centenary edition of the Commonwealth Games in 2030.
