Commemoration of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma's Legacy in Kokrajhar

The commemorative activities also included a visit to Bodofa's birthplace, reinforcing his significance in the region's history.

Kokrajhar, May 1: The 36th death anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, who is honored as the father of the Bodos, was marked with deep respect and solemnity in Kokrajhar on Friday. Leaders and community members united to celebrate his lasting impact.


BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary spearheaded the tribute by laying flowers at Bodofa’s statue located in Thulungapuri, Dotma, recognizing his significant role in the socio-political upliftment and empowerment of the Bodo people.


The event was attended by BTC Deputy Chief Rihon Daimary, various Members of Parliament, MLAs, MCLAs, Executive Members of the BTC, ABSU president K. Wary, senior officials, and a large crowd of attendees.


During his address, Mohilary emphasized Bodofa’s exceptional leadership qualities, portraying him as a beacon of brilliance, compassion, and steadfast dedication to justice and the rights of indigenous communities.


He remarked that Bodofa’s principles continue to motivate future generations and serve as a foundation for peace, unity, and comprehensive development in the area.


As part of the memorial activities, the BTC Chief also visited Bodofa’s birthplace in Boragari, where he paid his respects and engaged with family members, checking on their well-being.


Earlier that day, floral tributes were presented at the BTC Secretariat by MCLAs Dhaneswar Goyary and Kampa Borgoyari, along with other dignitaries, marking the commencement of the memorial observances.
