Cockroach Janta Party and Government Set for Crucial Talks at Neutral Venue
Upcoming Discussions at the Constitution Club of India
New Delhi: A significant meeting is scheduled for Friday between the government and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at the Constitution Club of India, following the Centre's agreement to the CJP's request for a neutral location.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from the government regarding the meeting.
This development follows activist Sonam Wangchuk's conclusion of a 26-day hunger strike late Thursday, which ended after the government provided assurances on his primary demands.
The discussions are expected to commence around 12:30 PM.
Saurav Das, the national spokesperson for CJP, expressed satisfaction with the government's decision to hold the meeting at a neutral venue.
"We are pleased that the government has accepted our request for a neutral location, and the Constitution Club of India has been selected," Das informed reporters.
"I hope the government approaches this meeting with an open mind and is willing to listen to the people's concerns," he added.
Previously, the CJP had rejected the government's invitation to meet at a minister's residence or office, insisting that discussions should occur in a neutral setting.
The last dialogue between the two parties took place on July 20, when CJP spokespersons Das and Ashutosh Ranka met with Union Health Minister J P Nadda at his residence.
Following that meeting, the two leaders claimed they were effectively detained and insisted that any future discussions be conducted at a neutral venue.
The CJP has reiterated that its protest at Jantar Mantar will persist until the resignation of Pradhan.
In addition to seeking his resignation, the CJP demands accountability for alleged irregularities in competitive exams, reforms in the education system, a compensation of Rs 1 crore for families of students who died by suicide after the alleged NEET paper leak, and the withdrawal of all FIRs and legal actions against peaceful protesters involved in the movement.
