Coal-Laden Train Derails in Jharkhand, Disrupting Rail Services

A freight train carrying coal derailed in Jharkhand's Palamu district, causing significant disruptions to rail services between Dalton Ganj and Garhwa Road junction. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The incident led to the alteration of routes for at least 10 passenger trains, with some being halted or canceled. The Ranchi-Sasaram Express was among the trains canceled, while others had their routes modified. The railway authorities have begun the process of removing the derailed carriages to restore normal operations.
 

Train Derailment in Palamu District

On Thursday, a freight train carrying coal derailed in Palamu district, Jharkhand, causing significant disruption to rail services between Dalton Ganj and Garhwa Road junction. Railway officials confirmed that at least 15 carriages went off the tracks, but fortunately, there were no reported injuries. The incident occurred near Rajhara station in the Dhanbad division of the East Central Railway (ECR) while the train was being redirected uphill. Indrajit Ram, the station manager at Rajhara, stated that the process to remove the derailed carriages has commenced.


Impact on Train Services

The derailment has led to alterations in the routes of several trains, with many being halted or canceled. An official from the Dhanbad division of ECR noted that the incident took place around 1 PM, affecting rail operations between Dalton Ganj and Garhwa Road junction. As a result, at least 10 passenger trains had their routes changed, and some were stopped mid-journey.


Cancellation of Specific Trains

The Ranchi-Sasaram Express has been canceled, while three other trains, including the Ranchi-Chopan Express, Gomoh-Chopan Passenger, and Barkakana-Dehri on Son Passenger, were halted. ECR also announced that six trains, such as the Hatia-Anand Vihar Express, Ranchi-Delhi Rajdhani, Palamu Express, and Shaktipunj Express, have had their routes modified due to the derailment.
