Clever Trickster Uses QR Codes to Scam Shopkeepers
A New Scam Unveiled
People work tirelessly to earn money, whether through jobs or by running their own businesses. Nowadays, when individuals go shopping, they often opt for online payments by scanning QR codes. However, this method can sometimes lead to failed transactions or funds not reaching the intended account. In some cases, money may even end up in someone else's account, causing frustration for shopkeepers. A recent video highlights a clever scam related to this issue.
In the viral clip shared by Aryan Parwar on Instagram, Aryan is seen photocopying multiple QR codes. He then visits a clothing store, where he discreetly places his QR code over the shopkeeper's scanner while making a purchase. This trick is repeated at a scooter showroom and while buying headphones. After leaving the stores, Aryan receives numerous payment notifications on his phone, suggesting he has made a fortune in just a few hours. If this were true, the shopkeepers would be left in dire straits.
However, it appears that the video was created for entertainment purposes. Typically, shopkeepers verify the customer's name before processing large payments, which could have exposed Aryan's scheme. The video has gained immense popularity on social media, amassing over 51 million views, with countless likes and comments. One viewer pointed out that customers' names are checked during money transfers, while another shared their own experience of facing legal consequences for similar actions.
