CJP Leaders Granted Conditional Release After Arrest in Delhi

Abhijit Deepke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka, founders of the Cockroach People's Party, have been released from custody in Delhi after being detained during a protest. Their release comes with strict conditions, including a requirement to maintain peace for one year. The leaders were arrested while demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, which has sparked significant political and social discussions. As the CJP plans its next steps, the focus remains on how they will navigate their proposed movement under these new constraints.

Conditional Release for CJP Founders

Abhijit Deepke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka, the founders of the Cockroach People's Party (CJP), have been granted relief by an executive magistrate's court following their detention in Delhi. After being held for approximately 23 to 24 hours, they were released under specific conditions.

According to media reports, the trio was taken into custody on October 10 while attempting to participate in a protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They were apprehended after disembarking from a flight at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, which sparked unrest among party members and supporters.

The police reportedly acted preemptively due to concerns over potential disturbances to public order. Subsequently, the three were presented before an executive magistrate, who ordered their release under certain conditions. Reports indicate that each individual was required to post a bail of ₹50,000, with the primary condition being to maintain peace and good behavior for the next 12 months.

The CJP had announced the protest to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with party leaders expressing their intent to raise issues related to the electoral process. Following their detention, the incident has sparked discussions in both political and social circles.

Now that the leaders have been released, attention will turn to how the CJP plans to proceed with its proposed movement. Other party leaders have indicated their intention to continue the protest, although the final strategy and schedule will depend on official announcements from the involved leaders.

The key takeaway from this situation is that while Abhijit Deepke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka have secured their release from court, they must adhere to the condition of not breaching the peace for a year. This case has reignited discussions surrounding protests, law and order, and the right to demonstrate.
