CJP Announces Protest Against Voter List Review in Kochi on November 7

The Cockroach People's Party (CJP) has announced a significant protest in Kochi on November 7, demanding the cancellation of the Special Intensive Review of the voter list. The event, titled 'Jantar Mantar in Kochi', will take place at Rajendra Maidan at 4 PM. Key figures, including CJP founder Abhijit Deepke, will participate in this demonstration, which follows recent arrests of party leaders during a previous protest. This protest marks a critical moment for the party as they seek to engage the public in their fight for democratic rights.

CJP's Call for Protest in Kochi

In New Delhi, the Cockroach People's Party (CJP) reiterated its demand for the immediate cancellation of the Special Intensive Review (SIR) of the voter list. They have scheduled a significant protest against the SIR in Kochi on November 7.

According to a post shared by CJP on the social media platform X, the protest, titled 'Jantar Mantar in Kochi', will take place at Rajendra Maidan starting at 4 PM.

The party's announcement stated, 'Save Democracy! Cancel SIR! Join us - November 7 - 4 PM | Rajendra Maidan, Kochi.' Abhijit Deepke, the founder of CJP, is expected to participate directly in this demonstration.

Additionally, Vijay Mallangi, the party's southern region head, and national secretary Afreen Nawaz will also attend the protest in Kochi on November 7.

This protest marks a significant step for the CJP following the arrest of its leaders, including Abhijit Deepke, during an unauthorized demonstration at Jantar Mantar against the SIR, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Last month, several top CJP leaders, including Abhijit Deepke, Ashutosh Ranka, and Sourav Das, were detained by Delhi police.

In response to these events, the central government removed Jantar Mantar from the list of designated protest sites. Despite this, Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka managed to breach security and hoist the national flag in protest against the de-notification.

They were subsequently arrested and spent a week in jail. They were released after providing an undertaking to the Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) that they would not hold any protests at Jantar Mantar as long as it remained de-notified.

Abhijit Deepke, who had previously announced a Tiranga event at Central Park in Connaught Place, was also arrested by Delhi police. He was later granted conditional bail by the SEM, with the primary condition being that he would not cause any disturbances for the next year.

On November 1, CJP expressed its support for the INDIA alliance march held in Delhi but did not participate in the rally led by Rahul Gandhi at Ramleela Maidan.
