Teacher's Dismissal Following Disturbing Remarks

A teacher from Cincinnati has lost her job after sharing a provocative message on social media in the wake of a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which officials have labeled as an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. Corrine Baum was employed at BrightPath Bridgetown Child Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, when her post came to light on Sunday. In a brief video, Baum expressed her discontent that Trump had not been harmed, stating, “There are creators here saying that Friday or yesterday could have been the day. And then I wake up to that news, but not THAT news.”

Her comments were in response to a shooting that occurred in Washington, DC, where Cole Tomas Allen, 31, allegedly approached a security checkpoint armed with a shotgun, handgun, and knives, leading to an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement. Trump, along with the First Lady, Vice President JD Vance, and other officials, were present at the event. Baum further remarked in her video, “We need to closely monitor what they are trying to distract us from.” Allen now faces several federal charges, including using a firearm during a violent crime and assaulting an officer after breaching security. A law enforcement officer was shot but fortunately sustained only minor injuries.

About Corrine Baum

Baum was part of the BrightPath network, which operates 12 preschool and daycare centers throughout the Tri-State area. The exact position she held at the center is not clear. BrightPath describes itself as a reliable and innovative provider of early childhood education. Following her controversial remarks, the organization terminated her employment, stating, “Our organization does not tolerate and explicitly condemns any calls for violence. The comments made online by this individual are deeply inconsistent with our values. The individual in question has been terminated.”
