CIDCO Employee Arrested for Accepting Bribe in Maharashtra
Bribery Case Involving CIDCO Employee
In Maharashtra, a worker from the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has been apprehended for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1.5 lakh from a retired employee. This information was confirmed by an official on Saturday.
Inspector Santosh Ambike reported that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Narendra Hire, a 57-year-old stenographer from CIDCO's telecommunications mobile division, on Friday night.
The accused was said to have demanded ₹4.5 lakh for preparing documents related to pending payments and for removing the retired employee's name from a departmental inquiry.
According to the official, Hire solicited bribes for himself and other officials. Eventually, he reduced his demand to ₹1.5 lakh, prompting the complainant to reach out to the ACB.
The official noted that the accused was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe, and a case has been filed against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
