Chirag Paswan Expresses Intent to Engage in Bihar Politics Ahead of Assembly Elections
Chirag Paswan's Political Aspirations
On Monday, Chirag Paswan, the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, expressed his desire to take an active role in Bihar's political landscape and indicated his intention to run in the forthcoming assembly elections.
In a recent interview, Paswan stated, "I envision my future in Bihar." He elaborated, saying, "When discussing my role, there are many uncertainties. I aim to be a strong ally and contribute to making Bihar a prosperous state." He emphasized that the vision of 'Bihar First, Bihari First' cannot be achieved solely from a position in the Central government.
Paswan articulated his wish to participate in the Bihar Assembly Elections, sharing his experiences of growing up in Delhi and working in Mumbai, where he observed the challenges faced by Biharis living outside their home state. He resolved to return to Bihar to enhance the living conditions of its residents, asserting that achieving 'Bihar First, Bihari First' necessitates his presence in the state.
However, he noted that the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has yet to finalize his candidacy for the Assembly elections. "There are discussions within the party regarding whether my participation would be beneficial. Other parties, including the BJP, have seen mixed results when MPs and Union Ministers run for Assembly seats," he explained.
Paswan's potential role in the upcoming elections has been a topic of speculation since he announced his candidacy during a rally in June. He declared that his party would back the NDA across all 243 assembly constituencies to secure victory.
He stated, "For those wondering where I will contest, I assure you that my party, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and I will aim to win all 243 seats to bolster NDA candidates and strengthen our alliance." While he dismissed rumors about aspiring for the Chief Minister position, he reaffirmed his support for Nitish Kumar, stating, "My faith lies with CM Nitish Kumar, who is affectionately referred to as 'sushasan babu' by the people of Bihar."
