Visiting Tiwari's family, he expressed deep condolences and promised to advocate for their rights. Amid public outrage and a judicial inquiry ordered by the Chief Minister, Paswan emphasized the need for accountability among police officials. The minister's commitment to a fair investigation aims to restore public trust in law enforcement.

Call for Accountability in Bharat Tiwari Case

Chirag Paswan, the national president of the Jan Shakti Party and Union Minister for Food Processing and Industries, stated on Friday that strict action will be taken against police officials responsible for the alleged murder of Bharat Tiwari in Bhojpur district, Bihar. Paswan visited the family of Tiwari in Bilauti village, expressing his condolences and offering support during this difficult time.

He assured the grieving family that every possible effort would be made to secure justice for them. Paswan emphasized that the voices of the affected family would be strongly represented on relevant platforms to ensure justice is achieved.

Local social and political activists had labeled Bharat Tiwari as 'mentally unstable.' On June 17, a police team arrived at his home to question him regarding a social media post, which led to his death from gunfire. This incident sparked widespread public outrage, prompting Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary to order a judicial inquiry into the matter. Meanwhile, Prashant Kishor, founder of the opposition party Jan Suraj, has called for the investigation to be conducted by a sitting judge of the Patna High Court rather than a retired one, warning of protests if their demands are not met.

Minister's Commitment to Justice

During his visit to Tiwari's ancestral village, Paswan told reporters, "Those responsible for maintaining law and order cannot take the law into their own hands. The protector must not become the predator. Strict punishment will be ensured for the officials responsible for Bharat Tiwari's murder."

He mentioned that he has already met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding this issue and plans to discuss it further with Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. Paswan stated, "Our top priority is to ensure a fair investigation and justice for Bharat Tiwari's family. I will inform Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary about the details of my conversation with Amit Shah."

He stressed the importance of identifying the guilty parties and ensuring they face consequences to maintain public trust in law enforcement. Paswan remarked, "It seems that Bharat Tiwari was attempting to surrender. He could have been arrested and questioned, but no one should take the law into their own hands."

Concerns Over Police Promotions

When questioned about the promotion of a police officer accused in Tiwari's alleged murder, Paswan declared it "completely unacceptable." He stated, "If any accused officer is promoted, I will discuss this matter with Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. Promoting an officer accused of murder is entirely inappropriate."

Paswan reassured that the investigation would be assigned to an agency that the family of Bharat Tiwari can trust.
