Chirag Paswan's Perspective on Bihar's Political Landscape

On Monday, Chirag Paswan, the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, expressed his criticism of Tejashwi Yadav's Muslim-Yadav coalition associated with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). In an interview with a news agency, the leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) stated that unlike the RJD, his party's 'Mai' system focuses on the 'women-youth' of Bihar. Paswan pointed out that while Tejashwi Yadav continues to promote the traditional 'Mai' (Muslim-Yadav) framework of his party, his ideology diverges, fostering communalism and casteism. His 'Mai' system, he clarified, signifies 'women-youth'.

Chirag further elaborated that his vision is encapsulated in the slogan 'Bihar First, Bihari First', asserting that he possesses solutions to all of the state's issues. He emphasized that his goal is to develop Bihar under this motto, claiming to have worked extensively on it. During the interview, he expressed his desire to play a 'significant role' in Bihar and to contest in the upcoming assembly elections. When asked about his 'significant role' in Bihar, Chirag stated that he now envisions himself actively participating in the state's affairs.

The central minister remarked that he now sees himself more prominently in Bihar. He noted that when discussing 'roles', many questions arise. His role, he indicated, would be that of a strong supporter of the coalition, aiming to transform Bihar into a developed state. Expressing his intention to contest in the elections, he stated that the vision of 'Bihar First, Bihari First' cannot be realized solely from the central government.

He reiterated his ambition to contest in the Bihar assembly elections. Having grown up in Delhi and worked in Mumbai, he has witnessed firsthand how Biharis are compelled to live under challenging conditions in other states. This experience led him to decide to return to Bihar to improve the situation for its residents. He believes that achieving 'Bihar First, Bihari First' at the central level is not feasible without returning to Bihar. The assembly elections in Bihar are anticipated to occur later this year, although the election commission has yet to announce the dates. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is prepared to contest alongside the BJP and JD(U)-led National Democratic Alliance in the state.
