Chilling Case of Serial Killer Monu: A Gruesome Tale of Violence and Crime
The Horrific Crimes of Monu
A man has crossed all boundaries of humanity, committing heinous acts against four women. This individual, known as the serial killer Monu, has left a trail of horror. Let's delve into the disturbing details of his crimes.
The story begins in 2010 when Neha Ahlawat, a 21-year-old MBA student, left her home in Sector 38 West on July 30 around 6 PM for an English speaking class. Tragically, she never returned. That same night, amidst heavy rain, her semi-nude, bloodied body was discovered in bushes near a taxi stand. The autopsy revealed signs of strangulation and sexual assault, confirmed by DNA evidence found on her clothing. Despite extensive investigations, the case went cold and was closed in 2020, but it was far from over. The same DNA would eventually lead police to the truth 15 years later.
Pattern of Attacks
During this time, two more similar cases emerged in the forested areas of Chandigarh. Each victim was targeted while alone, with the assailant taking advantage of the rainy season. The attacker would lure them to secluded spots, assault them, strangle them, and then dispose of their bodies in the underbrush. In several instances, evidence of sexual assault was also found post-mortem. DNA from all three cases pointed to a single perpetrator.
Identifying the Killer Through DNA
Monu's pattern of violence included not just one, but four women. His first known crime occurred in 2008 when he assaulted a 20-year-old girl in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba region, killing her with a sharp stone. Although arrested, he was acquitted due to lack of solid evidence during the trial. A few months later, in 2010, he committed a similar crime against the MBA student, also using a stone to kill her. In 2022, he attacked a married woman in the Maloya forest, and in February 2024, he attempted to assault a 65-year-old woman, whose clothing contained DNA that matched his.
Doctors conducted DNA tests comparing Monu Kumar's samples with those of the deceased married woman. On May 6, 2024, when Monu returned, police apprehended him. Initially, he denied all allegations, but upon being informed that his DNA matched all three cases, he confessed to the murders. His mobile phone, tracked to the vicinity of where the body of a victim was found, further implicated him.
Life Sentence for Monu

Additionally, he has been fined 50,000 rupees under various charges. Monu faces multiple allegations of similar crimes, with other cases still pending in court.
