Chief Minister's Vision for Bastar's Future
On Tuesday, Vishnu Dev Sai, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss a comprehensive strategy aimed at advancing development in the Bastar region. Acknowledging the restoration of peace following the decline of Naxalism, the Chief Minister credited the Prime Minister's leadership and support for this positive change. Sai presented an extensive plan focused on fostering overall development in Bastar, emphasizing tourism, a startup ecosystem, infrastructure expansion, and innovation-driven growth. This initiative outlines a transformative roadmap designed to accelerate economic progress and enhance living standards.
He extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to visit Bastar after the monsoon season, outlining plans to lay the foundation for several key projects and inaugurate significant initiatives during his visit. This trip is anticipated to symbolize the beginning of a new era of development for the region. The Chief Minister highlighted that Naxalism has been completely eradicated in Bastar and across Chhattisgarh, paving the way for lasting peace. He also emphasized the notable advancements in education and healthcare, which include the establishment of new educational cities, super-specialty hospitals, and medical colleges. Infrastructure projects such as dam construction on the Indravati River, railway network expansion, and airport development are enhancing connectivity.
Sai stated that the primary goal of this plan is to create jobs and improve access to essential services. He noted that the vision proposed by the Prime Minister nearly a decade ago to transform Bastar into a hub of peace and progress is now becoming a reality. The end of Naxalism has transformed fear into optimism and renewed confidence among the people. The development strategy is based on the principles of 'saturate, connect, facilitate, empower, and include,' focusing on the rapid and inclusive expansion of infrastructure and services, particularly integrating remote villages through a robust road network. Under the Prime Minister's rural road scheme, pending projects are set to be completed by 2027, which includes plans for 228 new roads and 267 bridges. Additionally, 61 new project proposals have been submitted for special central assistance to expedite development.
