Push for Enhanced Digital Connectivity in Chhattisgarh

Vishnu Dev Sai, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, has appealed to the central government for the swift approval of 2,305 new mobile towers under the Digital India Fund (DBN) initiative. This request aims to ensure mobile and internet service availability in the state's remote areas, as reported by officials on Friday.

During a meeting with Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia at the Communications Bhawan in New Delhi, the Chief Minister engaged in detailed discussions regarding the expansion of digital and telecommunications connectivity in Chhattisgarh.

Sai specifically emphasized the need for prompt approval of the proposed mobile towers to guarantee uninterrupted mobile and internet services in the state's remote, tribal, border, and difficult-to-reach regions. He noted that the geographical conditions in many of these areas have made the expansion of communication networks challenging. The establishment of these 2,305 new towers is expected to significantly enhance digital inclusion.

This initiative will bring reliable mobile and internet networks to villages and settlements that have previously lacked adequate communication facilities. Officials mentioned that Sai expressed gratitude to the central government and Minister Scindia for approving an additional 577 mobile towers for areas affected by Naxalism and other challenging terrains. He stated that this decision is a crucial step towards integrating regions with difficult geographical conditions, such as Bastar, into the digital mainstream.

The Chief Minister remarked that in areas where a new atmosphere of peace and development is emerging, a robust communication network will accelerate the pace of progress. Improved connectivity will strengthen communication between citizens and the administration, facilitate contact during emergencies, and allow residents to access online government services closer to their villages. Sai assured that the state government is prioritizing the processes related to the establishment of the approved mobile towers.

Out of the total 577 locations, land clearance certificates have already been issued for 489 sites to BSNL. The necessary procedures for the remaining 88 locations are being expedited, and approvals will be granted soon.
