Chennai Singams Triumph in Qualifier

In an exhilarating match of ISPL Season 3, the Chennai Singams achieved their first-ever final spot by defeating the Ahmedabad Lions in the initial Qualifier held at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat. Opting to bowl first, the Chennai Singams' bowling unit dismantled the Ahmedabad Lions' batting order, restricting them to a mere 57 runs. Ashish Pal was the standout performer, claiming 3 wickets.


Chennai Singams successfully chased down the target of 58 runs in just 8 overs, finishing with 5 wickets remaining, thus becoming the first team to secure a place in the ISPL Season 3 final.


Bowling Brilliance from Singams

The Chennai Singams made a strong start in Qualifier 1 by bowling first. Ashish Pal struck early, dismissing both openers, Sikandarbhai Bhatti and Prathamesh Thakare, without scoring. Although Birendra Ram from Ahmedabad Lions attempted to counterattack with two sixes, Jagannath Sarkar, known for his exceptional bowling, quickly took out both Birendra Ram and Sanjay Kanojiya during his spell.


Ashish Pal continued his impressive performance by removing Pradeep Patil for just 3 runs. The bowling unit maintained pressure, leaving Ahmedabad Lions at a precarious 24/5 at the halfway point.


Captain Ankur Singh joined the action, with Ketan Mhatre executing a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Ashiq Ali Shamsu on the first ball of Singh's spell. Sunil Kumar was brought in for the 50-50 Challenge Over, where he managed to restrict Jignesh Patel, the Ahmedabad Lions' captain, to just 3 runs.


Ultimately, the Ahmedabad Lions were bowled out for 57 runs in 9.4 overs, with Anurag Sarshar claiming the final wicket of Amit Naik, who scored 20 runs off 15 balls.

In pursuit of the 58-run target, Vice-Captain Ketan Mhatre spearheaded the innings, striking 2 boundaries and 2 sixes in the opening over of the second innings. Despite Ahmedabad Lions managing to take 5 wickets, Aman Yadav's unbeaten 22 runs off 11 balls ensured a swift victory for the Singams.
