Police Action in Chennai
On Thursday, Chennai police took 39 members of the RSS into custody near the Ayyappanthangal Government Higher Secondary School. According to reports, the workers were allegedly detained for conducting a 'Guru Puja' and a special training session without prior permission.
Response from BJP Leader
BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan condemned the arrests, urging the police to release the detained workers immediately. Speaking to the media, she criticized the DMK government for targeting RSS members while criminal activities and murders occur openly in Tamil Nadu.
Soundararajan accused the DMK administration of fostering anti-social and separatist elements in the state. She emphasized that while the police should maintain strict control over these elements, they swiftly act against RSS marches, leading to arrests.
Celebrating 100 Years of RSS
This incident coincides with the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). To commemorate this milestone, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a commemorative coin worth 100 rupees on October 1. He described the issuance of this coin as a moment of great pride and historical significance, depicting RSS volunteers bowing before 'Bharat Mata' in their traditional attire.
