Charges Filed Against Four in Kolkata College Rape Case

In a significant development, four individuals have been charged in connection with a gang rape incident that occurred at South Kolkata Law College two months ago. The police have submitted the charges to the local court, naming the main accused, a former student of the college, along with three others. The charges include serious offenses such as gang rape and kidnapping. All accused are currently in judicial custody as the investigation continues. This case has raised serious concerns about safety and security in educational institutions.
 

Legal Proceedings Initiated in Kolkata Rape Incident

Approximately two months after a reported gang rape incident involving a student at South Kolkata Law College, authorities have filed charges against four suspects. This information was confirmed by the police on Saturday.


A senior official indicated that the charges were submitted to the Alipore Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court. The main accused, Manojit Mishra, a former student of the college, is among those named in the charges, along with three others.


The official further elaborated that based on technical, scientific, and circumstantial evidence, the accused face multiple charges, including gang rape, unlawful confinement, kidnapping with intent to cause harm, concealing evidence, and misleading the investigation. All four suspects are currently in judicial custody.
