Chandubi Festival 2025: A Celebration of Culture and Tradition

The 16th Chandubi Festival is set to take place from January 1 to 5 at Chandubi Beel in South Kamrup district. Chandubi Festival Set to Begin


Palasbari, Dec 31: The 16th edition of the Chandubi Festival is scheduled to take place from January 1 to 5 at the historic Chandubi Beel, situated in the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) region of South Kamrup district. This annual event highlights the rich cultural tapestry of various communities through an array of lively activities.


This year's festivities will include folk dances, traditional dishes, indigenous sports, ethnic clothing, and exhibitions that celebrate the area's diverse and vibrant traditions.


The festival is a collaborative effort between the Barduar-Bholagaon Anchalik Rabha Students’ Union and the Chandubi Festival Celebration Committee.


The event will kick off with a flag hoisting ceremony led by Bichitra Rabha, president of the Chandubi Festival Celebration Committee, followed by an official inauguration by Tankeswar Rabha, the chief executive member of the RHAC. Additionally, Subodh Talukdar, the divisional forest officer of the West Kamrup Forest Division, will inaugurate the guest house.


This year's festival will also feature indigenous games and a food fair showcasing local cuisine. A souvenir, Lakeya, will be unveiled by Anup Kumar Medhi, a state executive member of the BJP.


Notable attendees expected at the festival include MP Bijuli Kalita Medhi, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, and Palasbari MLA Hemanga Thakuria.


On the third day, traditional games such as ‘khuti khel’ and ‘baghbul khel’ will be contested. A seminar titled ‘Customs and Traditions in Tribal Rural Society and Their Unwritten Scientific Basis’ will also be part of the program.
