Chandrababu Naidu Critiques DMK-Congress Alliance in Tamil Nadu Campaign
Naidu's Campaign Intensifies in Tamil Nadu
Chandrababu Naidu has ramped up his election campaign in Tamil Nadu, launching a direct attack on the alliance between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Indian National Congress. He questioned the ideological shifts within the DMK, noting that the party was originally founded in opposition to Congress, yet now collaborates with them. While addressing public gatherings ahead of the assembly elections, Naidu emphasized that this contradiction reflects a lack of continuity in political values. He urged voters to consider the changes in alliances over time and their implications for governance.
Criticism of DMK and Congress on Women's Reservation Bill
Naidu also raised concerns regarding the Women's Reservation Bill, sharply criticizing the DMK and Congress for opposing it in Parliament. He described the 33% reservation initiated under Narendra Modi's leadership as a progressive step towards women's empowerment. According to him, the parties opposing the bill must answer to women across the nation and justify their stance.
Highlighting Development Initiatives
During his speech, Naidu supported his arguments with examples of development. He referenced plans for a massive airport spanning 5,000 acres in Amaravati, comparing it to the infrastructure levels in Tamil Nadu. He pointed out that cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad are already expanding with multiple airports, while Tamil Nadu has not kept pace with such ambitions. Naidu also recalled his previous visits to the state during J. Jayalalithaa's tenure and expressed confidence in the NDA alliance's victory in the upcoming elections.
Commenting on Actor Vijay's Political Entry
In a nod to actor Vijay and his political aspirations, Naidu remarked that the influence of his party would become evident during the elections. He further stated that Chennai, once a symbol of prestige, has lost its luster in recent years due to a lack of progressive governance. Naidu's campaign speeches focused on a blend of policy, development, and political contradictions, aiming to create a favorable atmosphere for the NDA alliance by highlighting ideological shifts and questioning governance.
