The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in Chamba held a legal awareness event today at the Government Degree College aimed at informing attendees about the latest initiatives introduced by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
Advocate Naveen Singh Thakur, who serves as the Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel at DLSA Chamba, along with Advocate Sunita Kumari, contributed as resource speakers during the event.
Throughout the sessions, participants received comprehensive insights into various NALSA programs, such as Jagriti, Asha, Samvad, the Poverty Eradication Scheme, and the NALSA Veer Parivar Assistance Scheme for 2025. The speakers emphasized the importance of legal aid, free legal services, alternative dispute resolution options, and the rights of women and marginalized groups, as well as the advantages of government welfare initiatives.
The event saw participation from 11 faculty members (4 male and 7 female) and attracted a total of 250 students, including 120 boys and 130 girls. The students displayed a strong interest in the topics discussed, which greatly improved their understanding of legal matters.
The main goal of this initiative was to inform young people about their rights and responsibilities while facilitating access to justice for underprivileged communities. The DLSA, Chamba, has committed to organizing similar legal awareness programs in the future.
