Chambal Ghariyals Set a Challenging Target

The Chambal Ghariyals have advanced to the finals of the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) T20 Scindia Cup 2026 after narrowly defeating the Jabalpur Royal Lions by 11 runs in a thrilling semi-final match held at Holkar Stadium in Indore.

Batting first, the Ghariyals scored a competitive total of 213 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. The opening pair of Ankush Singh and Harsh Dixit provided a solid foundation, contributing 39 runs for the first wicket in just 3.6 overs before Ankush was dismissed for a quick 29 runs off 14 balls.

Shubham Sharma joined Dixit, and together they added 42 runs for the second wicket. Dixit played aggressively, scoring 48 runs off 24 balls before falling just short of a half-century.

Despite several players getting starts, the team struggled to form significant partnerships, losing wickets at regular intervals. With the score at 170/7 in the 18th over, Aman Bhadoriya stepped up, delivering a crucial late innings performance with 30 runs off just 14 balls, helping the Ghariyals surpass the 200-run mark.

Jabalpur's Chase Comes Up Short

In response, the Jabalpur Royal Lions began their innings strongly, with openers Aryan Tiwari and Ajay Rohera forming a formidable 105-run partnership for the first wicket. However, the Ghariyals broke through in the 11th over when Bhadoriya trapped Rohera lbw for 44 runs off 33 balls.

The Lions faced another setback shortly after, as Vedant Awasthi was caught out for 7 runs off 5 balls. Tiwari found some support from Ritik Tada, but their partnership was short-lived. Tada was dismissed for 14 runs off 8 balls after a spectacular catch by Avesh Khan, leaving the Lions at 127/3 in 12.5 overs.

Captain Rahul Batham joined Tiwari at the crease, but in a surprising move, the Lions retired Tiwari after his solid innings of 51 runs off 34 balls, bringing Sanjog Nijjar to bat. Unfortunately, this decision backfired as Batham was run out for 7 runs off 7 balls due to a mix-up.

With wickets falling around him, Nijjar fought valiantly to keep the chase alive. The Lions needed 20 runs off the final over, but Chambal's captain entrusted the ball to Mayur Patel, who excelled under pressure, conceding only eight runs and dismissing Nijjar for 26 runs off 17 balls, securing a memorable victory for the Ghariyals. Patel's bowling figures were 2 wickets for 30 runs in three overs, while Bhadoriya had an impressive spell of 1 wicket for 22 runs in four overs.

Aman Bhadoriya Reflects on the Victory

After the match, Bhadoriya commented on the team's performance, stating, "It was a complete team effort. Our strategy was clear from the start; we aimed to bat deep and take the game to the final overs. Although we didn't finish the innings as planned, surpassing the 200-run mark provided a solid foundation. Personally, I'm pleased with my contribution, as the team needed a significant score, and I was able to deliver. I didn't start well with the ball, but I trusted my skills and made adjustments. The wicket was favorable for spinners, and once I found my lengths, things improved significantly."

"Reaching the final again feels fantastic, but our focus remains on the next game. Our goal is straightforward: to win the tournament and bring home the trophy," he concluded.
