Significant Development for Remote Areas

The Chamba-Killar road has been officially recognized as a Strategic Road, a result of the dedicated efforts of Rajya Sabha MP and former minister Harsh Mahajan. This new status means that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) will take charge of its construction and upkeep, with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) overseeing the execution.

Mahajan hailed this development as a pivotal advancement for enhancing connectivity in the remote tribal areas of Churah, Pangi, and Killar. He pointed out that better road access is expected to greatly improve transportation, tourism, economic activities, healthcare, education, and security throughout the district.

He expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari, stating that improving connectivity in the remote regions of Chamba is among his top priorities.
