Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal has declared that special Anti-Chitta Gram Sabhas will take place in every Gram Panchayat throughout the district on January 21 and 22. This initiative is designed to enhance public awareness regarding the detrimental effects of drug abuse, specifically focusing on the issue of chitta (a heroin-based substance).
The main goal of these gatherings is to inform the community about the severe repercussions of narcotics, address concerns related to chitta, explore rehabilitation options for affected youth, and bolster awareness campaigns alongside necessary administrative measures.
To ensure the effective organization of the Gram Sabhas, designated Block Development Officers will serve as nodal officers. The Deputy Commissioner also pointed out that the state government has implemented a cash reward system for those who provide tips about drug traffickers.
Moreover, during these meetings, the Pradhans of the Gram Panchayats will lead an oath-taking ceremony to commit their respective panchayats to a drug-free environment.
This comprehensive initiative underscores the administration's dedication to addressing the escalating drug issue and engaging communities in the pursuit of a healthier, drug-free future.
