Census Notification Sparks Political Debate
Following the central government's announcement on Monday regarding the 16th census of India set for 2027, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav accused the Congress party of consistently deceiving the Other Backward Classes (OBCs). He stated that if Congress had ever been truthful, they would have established another commission after the Kaka Kalelkar Commission report was released. The Mandal Commission was only formed after Congress lost power in the country.
The minister further remarked that even after the Janata Party's exit, the Mandal Commission report was not implemented. It was only when Congress lost power again that the Mandal Commission was put into effect. When the Supreme Court recognized the legality of the Mandal Commission, Congress worked to undermine the OBC Commission. It was under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership in 2014 that the OBC Commission received constitutional status.
Yadav highlighted that Congress's recent actions in Karnataka exemplify their betrayal once more. He claimed that for Congress, social justice is merely a facade, lacking genuine commitment. Their strategy involves misleading the OBC community rather than providing justice. He attributed the fragile state of India's economy in 2014 to the corruption and loss of trust caused by Congress's handling of taxpayer money. He asserted that Congress's recent initiatives in Karnataka are merely political maneuvers aimed at deceiving certain segments of society while engaging in appeasement politics. The slogan 'As many people, as many rights' by Rahul Gandhi is a false narrative, he concluded, stating that rights belong solely to one family.
