International Women's Day Celebration at CSIR-IHBT

The CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT) marked International Women’s Day with enthusiasm, honoring the ongoing struggle for women's equality and rights as part of a global movement.
Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav, the Director of CSIR-IHBT, welcomed attendees and stressed the significance of the day, highlighting the crucial roles women play in various sectors including science, society, and sports. He called for equal opportunities and safety for women.
The chief guest, Dr. (Mrs.) Jatinder Kaur Arora, who serves as an Advisor for the Northern Region Science & Technology Cluster: PI-RAHI at the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, shared insights on the rich history of International Women’s Day and its evolving significance. She acknowledged the contributions of women in transformative times and the initiatives they are spearheading across different fields.
Guests of honour Advocate Adarsh Sood and Mrs. Nitika Bhandari also attended the event. Mr. Sood discussed various legal frameworks, particularly the POSH Act, while Mrs. Bhandari addressed social movements and issues affecting women.
The program featured the recognition of inspiring women entrepreneurs and female staff members from the institute. A workshop titled “Strengthening of Inner-Self” was conducted for female staff and students, promoting personal growth and empowerment. An exhibition showcasing creative works by women participants added a vibrant cultural aspect to the event.
The celebration concluded with a powerful message emphasizing empowerment, equality, and the acknowledgment of women's essential contributions to society.
