Celebrating Women's Empowerment: International Women's Day at Government Arya Degree College

Government Arya Degree College in Nurpur celebrated International Women's Day with a series of educational and creative activities aimed at empowering students. Under the guidance of Principal Dr. Anil Kumar Thakur, the event focused on raising awareness about women's rights and the importance of a safe campus environment. The Internal Complaint Committee organized various competitions, including poster-making and declamation contests, where students expressed their views on gender equality. This initiative not only educated the youth but also fostered a culture of respect and empowerment within the college community.
 

International Women's Day Celebrated at GADC

Government Arya Degree College (GADC) in Nurpur marked International Women’s Day with an engaging program filled with educational and creative activities, led by Principal Dr. Anil Kumar Thakur.


The event was orchestrated by the Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) against Sexual Harassment, aiming to empower students by raising awareness about their legal rights. The initiative was coordinated by Prof. Kiran Bala (Assistant Professor, Commerce), with support from committee members Lt. Surjeet Kumar, Prof. Pearl Bakshi, and Dr. Manoj Kumar.


This year's theme centered on women’s empowerment, particularly highlighting the POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Act. Prof. Bala and her team educated students on the significance of fostering a safe, respectful, and gender-neutral campus atmosphere.


A total of 15 students took part in the Poster-Making Competition, which included two special entries from the Rangers unit. Additionally, the Declamation Contest allowed students to voice their opinions on gender equality and safety.

  • Poster-Making: Ruchi and Renu (B.Com 1st Year), Deepanshi Thakur and Manpreet (B.Com Final Year).

  • Declamation: Kanan (B.Com 1st Year), Sahil and Arush (B.Com Final Year), Siddharth (B.Com 2nd Year).


Principal Dr. Anil Kumar Thakur commended the ICC for its proactive efforts in educating the youth and promoting a culture of safety and equality, emphasizing that such initiatives reinforce the values of respect and empowerment within the college community.
