Celebrating the Abrogation of Article 370: A New Era for Jammu and Kashmir
A Historic Day for Jammu and Kashmir
On August 5, during a session in the Rajya Sabha, BJP's Satpal Sharma highlighted the significance of the day, marking the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. He asserted that this pivotal change has enabled the residents of the Union Territory to benefit from every central government initiative, contributing actively to the nation's progress. Sharma emphasized that this day is one that the people of Jammu and Kashmir, along with the entire country, have eagerly awaited for decades.
He recalled that on August 5, 2019, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian government revoked the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370, subsequently bifurcating the state into two Union Territories.
Sharma praised the efforts of Home Minister Amit Shah, stating that his actions have propelled Jammu and Kashmir to new heights. He noted that the burdens of Article 370 and 35A had been a source of distress for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, which the Modi administration has successfully addressed.
He paid tribute to Syama Prasad Mukherjee, a leader of the Janata Party, who sacrificed his life for the vision of 'One Constitution, One Flag, One Leader.' Sharma acknowledged the numerous individuals who have made sacrifices to realize this dream, expressing his respect for them. He concluded by stating that Jammu and Kashmir is now walking hand in hand with India, actively participating in the country's development and reaping the benefits of all government schemes.
Additionally, Sharma accused the Congress and National Conference of perpetrating injustices against countless nationalists, including acts of violence and murder.
