Celebrating National Wildlife Week 2026 at Government Arya Degree College, Nurpur

Government Arya Degree College in Nurpur recently concluded National Wildlife Week 2026, engaging 50 student volunteers in various activities centered around wildlife conservation. The week featured an awareness program by the Nurpur Forest Department, educational talks by faculty members, and a speech competition highlighting students' commitment to environmental issues. This initiative aimed to foster a deeper understanding of biodiversity and encourage active participation in conservation efforts among students.

The Eco Club at Government Arya Degree College in Nurpur successfully wrapped up the National Wildlife Week 2026, featuring enthusiastic involvement from 50 student volunteers. This year's theme focused on “Connecting Habitats, Thriving Wildlife.”


On October 3, the Nurpur Forest Department hosted an awareness initiative aimed at emphasizing the significance of wildlife preservation. Block Officer Nitin Minhas, along with Forest Guards Arvind Dhiman and Priyankur Bharti, provided insights into conservation methods and even rescued a snake from the college grounds, safely returning it to its natural habitat.


In addition to these activities, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Associate Professor of Botany, delivered a talk on plant diversity, discussing their characteristics, habitats, and ecological roles. Mrs. Medha Sharma, Assistant Professor of Zoology, elaborated on the distinctions between venomous and non-venomous snakes, enhancing students’ knowledge of local wildlife.


The concluding day featured a speech competition with 15 participants, where Ms. Arushi, Ms. Kajal, and Ms. Ridhima achieved first, second, and third places respectively, demonstrating their understanding and passion for wildlife conservation.


The series of events throughout the week underscored the college's commitment to promoting environmental awareness and inspiring students to actively engage in biodiversity protection.
