In a vibrant celebration of the theme "Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat," the Sports Authority of India (SAI) CRC Bhopal hosted a three-day event from August 28 to August 30. This occasion honored the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, aiming to motivate the youth to engage in sports and maintain an active lifestyle.
The festivities kicked off on August 28 with the 29 Challenge and various fitness activities. Participants, including athletes, coaches, and staff, took part enthusiastically, promoting the idea of integrating regular physical activity into daily life. The 29 Challenge encouraged individuals to adopt fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship while paying homage to Major Dhyan Chand's remarkable legacy.
Honoring the Hockey Legend
On August 29, a floral tribute was held for Major Dhyan Chand during the National Sports Day celebrations. The event featured Special Guest Jyoti Ratre, an Everester, who inspired attendees to stay dedicated to their fitness goals. She emphasized that success is a product of consistent effort and resilience, whether in sports or life. Participants reflected on Dhyan Chand's significant contributions to Indian hockey and pledged to uphold his inspiring legacy.
Team Competitions and Spirit
The National Sports Day festivities included various sporting competitions among four teams, fostering teamwork and competitive spirit. The teams were:
1. Team A - Fit India Fighters
2. Team B - Khelo India Champs
3. Team C - Asmita Warriors
4. Team D - TOPS Challengers
Participants showcased remarkable enthusiasm, with the following teams winning in their respective sports: Volleyball - Fit India Fighters, Hockey - Khelo India Champs, Football - TOPS Challengers, and Cricket - Asmita Warriors.
Engaging the Community
Students and teachers from Carmel Convent Sr. Secondary School, Bhopal, visited SAI CRC Bhopal to experience its dynamic sporting environment and training facilities. Additionally, on August 30, a special cycling event called Sundays on Cycle was organized in collaboration with the DSYW, Madhya Pradesh, encouraging over 120 participants to embrace fitness through a 5-km ride.
Grand Finale and Cultural Night
The final competitions took place on August 30, culminating in a thrilling series of matches. Khelo India Champs emerged as the overall winners after a series of exciting games. A felicitation ceremony honored the winning team and participants, attended by key officials from SAI CRC Bhopal.
The celebrations concluded with a lively Cultural Night and Ramp Walk, where athletes and staff showcased their talents beyond sports, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie. The event wrapped up with a special dinner curated by a chef for all participants.
