Haflong, Jan 1: The Hega'ngi festival, a vibrant three-day celebration of the Zeme community, has successfully concluded, highlighting the tribe's rich cultural heritage.


This significant festival commenced with great enthusiasm in Haflong, drawing a large crowd of Zeme community members.


The opening day featured a gathering at Lodiram Kelumki in Lodi, where attendees offered prayers to Tin Wang, the sky deity, asking for blessings for a fruitful harvest. Community members showcased their finest jhum produce at the temple on this day.


The second day was filled with traditional games and sports, fostering a spirit of joy and camaraderie. Winners of various competitions welcomed fellow villagers to their homes, serving traditional dishes in a customary fashion, which emphasized the values of hospitality and community bonding.


Hega'ngi serves as a testament to the Zeme community's dedication to preserving their customs, folklore, music, dance, and agricultural practices.
