Early Life and Education

Dr. Pramod Sawant was born on April 24, 1973, in Goa. After completing his early education, he graduated from Ganga Ayurvedic Medical College in Kolhapur and later earned a Master of Social Work degree from Tilak Maharashtra University.


Political Career

His political journey began in 2008 when he contested the by-election for the Pale constituency on a BJP ticket but faced defeat. However, in the 2012 assembly elections, he successfully won from the Sankhalim constituency.


Dr. Sawant also served as the spokesperson for the Goa unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party for a period. In 2017, he was re-elected to the Goa Legislative Assembly from the same constituency and was subsequently elected as the Speaker on March 22, 2017.


Becoming Chief Minister of Goa

Following the passing of former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Dr. Pramod Sawant was elected as the 13th Chief Minister of the Union Territory. He took the oath of office on March 19, 2019, and has since been re-elected for a second term as Goa's Chief Minister.
