Celebrating 300 Years of Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar: A Legacy of Empowerment and Justice

The 300th birth anniversary of Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar was celebrated in Bhubaneswar, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other dignitaries honoring her legacy. The event featured the launch of an Odia-language book detailing her life and contributions to governance and social reform. Majhi emphasized her role as a social reformer and drew parallels between her vision and current government initiatives aimed at empowering women and promoting justice. A Grand Commemoration in Bhubaneswar


Bhubaneswar: On Saturday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took part in the grand celebration marking the 300th birth anniversary of Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar. The event saw the participation of prominent leaders and dignitaries who gathered to pay tribute to one of India's most revered female monarchs and social reformers.


Among the attendees were Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, and Minister of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, Suryabanshi Suraj, along with Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, highlighting the significance of Ahilyabai Holkar's lasting impact on governance and social advancement.


A key moment of the celebration was the unveiling of an Odia-language book titled 'Karmajogini Punyashloka Ahilyabai Holkar.' This publication delves into Ahilyabai's life, her visionary leadership, and her unwavering commitment to public service.


During the event, CM Majhi praised Ahilyabai Holkar, stating she was not just a ruler but a social reformer whose ideals continue to motivate governance and women's empowerment in Odisha. He commended her steadfast dedication to justice and public welfare, asserting that her legacy serves as a guiding light for good governance.


Majhi drew connections between Ahilyabai's vision and the current initiatives of the Odisha government, such as rural development, education, women's empowerment, and healthcare. He specifically mentioned the Subhadra Yojana, aimed at economically empowering women and promoting self-sufficiency, reflecting Ahilyabai's commitment to uplifting society's marginalized.


In a broader national context, the Chief Minister referenced Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's recent acknowledgment of women's contributions during Operation Sindoor, emphasizing the strength and resilience of women.


He also highlighted the cultural importance of the Odia festival Savitri Osha, linking it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dedication to preserving women's dignity, symbolized by sindoor. Majhi warned that disrespect towards this sacred symbol would invite divine consequences, reinforcing his belief that 'India is in safe hands under Modi's leadership.'


Speaker Surama Padhy hailed Ahilyabai as a lasting emblem of justice and bravery, while Deputy CM Pravati Parida encouraged Odisha to adopt her principles for transformative governance and social progress. Minister Suryabanshi Suraj referred to her as a beacon for modern society.


The event not only celebrated Ahilyabai's enduring contributions but also reaffirmed her significant influence on governance, women's empowerment, and social justice in Odisha and beyond.
