CBSE's Re-evaluation Portal: What Students Need to Know About the New Process

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched a re-evaluation portal, allowing nearly 40,000 students to verify and re-evaluate their exam results. With various payment options available, students can submit their applications online using their Aadhaar numbers. The portal, which addresses concerns over the on-screen marking system, will remain open for a limited time. Students are encouraged to ensure all details are correct before submission, as applications will only be accepted with completed payments. The board has also implemented security measures to protect against cyberattacks. For more information, read the full article.

Overview of the CBSE Re-evaluation Process

New Delhi: As of Wednesday morning, approximately 40,000 students have successfully utilized the verification and re-evaluation services offered by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The board has confirmed that payment options through State Bank of India (SBI), Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Indian Bank are accessible on the Verification and Re-evaluation portal. Notably, students do not need to hold accounts with these banks to process their payments.

CBSE clarified, "Students can utilize any of these payment gateways without needing an account with the banks to complete their transactions."

Various online payment methods are available, including UPI, net banking, credit cards, and debit cards, as per the board's announcement.

The board urged students to rely solely on official CBSE communications for accurate information.

The portal was launched after a delay, with the CBSE initially stating that the application process for verification and re-evaluation was expected to commence by May 29.

This initiative follows concerns expressed by students and parents regarding the on-screen marking (OSM) system implemented by the CBSE.

The board has faced backlash from students and parents due to technical issues, payment failures, and accessibility problems during the verification and re-evaluation process.

On Tuesday, the online portal was activated for students dissatisfied with their Class 12 board exam evaluations, allowing them to verify issues in scanned copies of their answer sheets and request re-evaluations.

The service is exclusively available to students who have received scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets.

The CBSE stated, "The portal for applying for verification of issues in the scanned copies of answer sheets and re-evaluation of answers went live on June 2, 2026. Students can utilize this facility if they have concerns regarding their evaluated answer sheets or wish to request a re-evaluation if they are not satisfied with the results."

The portal will be accessible from June 2 to June 6 at midnight, and no offline applications or requests submitted after this deadline will be entertained.

Students must log in to the CBSE website using their Aadhaar number to submit applications online. The entire process, including fee payment, will be conducted digitally.

For verification of issues in scanned answer sheets, students can report problems such as missing pages, missing supplementary sheets, blurred pages, or incorrect answer sheets.

The board advised students to ensure that all requests across subjects are included before finalizing their submissions.

The fee for verifying issues in scanned answer sheets is set at Rs 100 per answer book, while re-evaluation will cost Rs 25 per question.

Students are permitted to submit only one application for verification of issues or re-evaluation, so they are encouraged to decide in advance whether to apply for one or multiple subjects.

The CBSE emphasized that once the 'freeze and proceed to payment' button is clicked, the details will be locked and cannot be modified. Therefore, students should verify that all information is accurate.

Applications will only be considered successfully submitted after the online payment is completed. Additionally, only one application for verification of issues and one for re-evaluation will be allowed.

Students can also apply online for re-evaluation of one or more questions across various subjects by providing necessary details, including question numbers and page numbers.

The CBSE will communicate the outcomes of the requests once the process is completed and advised students to submit their applications within the specified timeline.

To assist students, a visual guide and tutorial video have been made available.

The CBSE reported that "malicious actors" attempted to disrupt services on its re-evaluation portal through cyberattacks, including a denial-of-service attack that resulted in 1.5 million hits on the platform within two minutes and over one lakh unauthorized access attempts.

The board stated, "While thousands of students accessed the CBSE re-evaluation portal today, malicious actors attempted to disrupt services through a barrage of cyberattacks."

The most recent attack was a denial-of-service (DoS) attempt that caused 1.5 million hits on the portal in just two minutes, along with more than one lakh unauthorized file access attempts.

In response to student feedback, the CBSE has implemented further enhancements, including extended session time limits, to improve user experience.

The board assured, "Our teams remain vigilant to ensure a secure, reliable, and student-friendly platform."

For security purposes, Aadhaar-based verification has been introduced for applying for verification of issues and re-evaluation of answers.

For students without Aadhaar, the Aadhaar details of parents, relatives, or guardians can be utilized, provided that the name, date of birth, and gender match the individual whose Aadhaar number is used.
