CBSE Clarifies Payment Process for Exam Verification and Re-evaluation

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has clarified that students applying for verification and re-evaluation of their exam answer sheets do not need to have accounts with specific banks. This announcement addresses concerns raised by students facing difficulties with the payment process. CBSE confirmed that various digital payment methods are accepted, allowing students to use UPI, net banking, and cards from any bank. The board also reported a smooth operation of the system, urging reliance on official communications for accurate information. This clarification comes amid criticism from opposition leaders regarding the payment system's accessibility.

Clarification from CBSE on Payment Requirements

On Wednesday, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) clarified that students applying for verification and re-evaluation of board exam answer sheets are not required to have accounts with State Bank of India (SBI), Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, or Indian Bank to complete the payment process. This announcement follows reports indicating that candidates were facing challenges on the verification and re-evaluation portal, believing that payments could only be made through accounts at these four banks.

Payment Options Available for Students

In a statement released on social media, CBSE emphasized that while the payment gateway portals of SBI, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Indian Bank are integrated, applicants can utilize various digital payment methods regardless of their bank. According to the board, candidates can make payments via UPI, net banking, credit cards, and debit cards using any payment gateway available on the portal.

System Functionality and Student Guidance

CBSE also reported that the system is functioning smoothly, with approximately 40,000 students successfully completing their applications through the portal by 9:30 AM on Wednesday. The board urged students and parents to rely solely on official CBSE communications for accurate information regarding the verification and re-evaluation process. This clarification came in response to criticism from opposition leader Atishi, who alleged that the payment system restricted transactions to customers of the listed four banks.

Concerns Raised by Opposition Leader

In a social media post, Atishi criticized the central government and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, claiming that students without accounts in SBI, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, or Indian Bank would be unable to apply for re-evaluation. This issue has emerged amid ongoing discussions regarding alleged irregularities in the evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets and complaints about technical glitches on the board's online portals.
