Controversial Teaser Sparks Outrage

Candace Owens is encountering significant criticism following the release of a teaser for her new series titled “Bride of Charlie.” This series aims to delve into the life of Erika Kirk, the widow of the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The brief video, shared by Owens on X, opens with news clips depicting the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University last September. It transitions to footage of Erika Kirk, who took over as CEO of Turning Point USA after her husband's death. The trailer makes references to “Zionists” and Israel, concluding with a striking image of Erika adorned with a crown. Notably, Erika Kirk, 37, is set to attend President Trump’s State of the Union address as one of his guests.

Immediate Backlash from Public Figures

Strong Reactions to the Trailer

The teaser has sparked intense backlash almost instantly. Meghan McCain expressed her outrage on X, stating, “Pure, unadulterated, f–king evil. Who in God’s name would put a woman whose husband was brutally assassinated in front of the entire world through this? I am so upset by this, I am just so deeply sorry Erika and her family have to be put through this.” Ben Shapiro, founder of The Daily Wire, labeled Owens as “evil” in a video response on X. Seth Dillon from the Babylon Bee questioned, “What would Charlie have to say about this? And what would he think of his so-called friends who can’t summon the courage to say it for him?”

A spokesperson for Owens responded to the backlash, claiming, “LOL. There isn’t any backlash outside of the Zionist bubble, which has no influence. People are excited to watch, and we are looking forward to presenting what we’ve discovered about Mrs. Kirk,” according to a report from a news outlet. Neither Turning Point USA nor Erika Kirk has publicly commented on the series.

Background on the Ongoing Tension

Background on the Feud

Owens, 36, has made numerous allegations regarding Erika Kirk since the tragic death of Charlie Kirk at the age of 31. The conflict between Owens and Erika has persisted even after their meeting at a summit in December. The announcement of this series coincides with the recent legal troubles of Tyler Robinson, 22, who is facing prosecution for Charlie Kirk’s murder. Robinson could face the death penalty if convicted of aggravated murder in the shooting that occurred on September 10. His defense team argued that deputy county attorney Chad Grunander had a conflict of interest since his daughter was present during the shooting, but a judge dismissed this motion.
