Call for Resignation of Telangana CM Amid ED Allegations
Demand for Resignation Following ED Charges
Following the inclusion of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's name in a chargesheet by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald case, K.T. Rama Rao, the executive president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has called for his resignation.
Addressing reporters, Rao asserted that the ED's action has tarnished the state's reputation on a national level.
Rao, the son of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), stated, 'We demand that Revanth Reddy voluntarily resign or that the Congress central leadership ask him to step down to ensure a fair investigation.'
He also questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's silence, saying, 'Why is Rahul Gandhi not speaking out? Your name, along with that of your Chief Minister, is mentioned in the chargesheet.'
Rao further alleged that BJP leaders in Telangana are also remaining silent on this issue.
He claimed that there is a collusion between Congress and BJP in the state, accusing the central National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government of shielding Revanth Reddy amid corruption allegations.
The chargesheet filed by the ED states that some Congress leaders contributed to 'Young Indian' and 'Associated Journals Limited' (AJL) under the direction of senior leaders, fearing damage to their political careers and businesses if they did not comply. This chargesheet was submitted to the court on April 9, but the court has yet to take cognizance of it.
