As investigations unfold, including a three-hour interrogation of former trust secretary Champat Rai, the need for accountability and transparency in temple donations has become increasingly urgent. Serious Allegations Surrounding Ram Temple Donations

On Tuesday, June 30, Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), expressed her deep concerns regarding the alleged misappropriation of funds collected for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. She described the situation as "extremely serious and alarming" and cautioned against politicizing the issue. The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh emphasized that strict action should be taken against those found guilty, insisting they should not be spared. Her comments come amid an ongoing investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Ayodhya police and the state government regarding the alleged theft of donations meant for the temple.

Mayawati Warns Against Politicizing the Issue

In a post on social media, Mayawati highlighted the alarming media reports surfacing daily about the theft and embezzlement of donations at the Ram Temple. She stressed that while those responsible should face consequences, it is inappropriate to politicize the matter. To prevent future complaints regarding donations at the temple, she suggested adopting accounting practices similar to those used in other renowned temples across the country. Mayawati warned against intertwining crime, politics, and religion, advocating for the separation of these elements to uphold constitutional values. She urged political parties to heed her advice for the benefit of the nation and its citizens. So far, eight individuals linked to the cash counting of donations have been arrested and placed in judicial custody, while calls for action against high-ranking officials associated with temple management are growing.

Three-Hour Interrogation of Champat Rai

Meanwhile, the police conducted a nearly three-hour interrogation of Champat Rai, the former general secretary of the Ram Temple Trust, recording his statement. Sources indicate that investigators posed several critical questions regarding administrative decisions, donation management, employee roles and responsibilities, and the handling of complaints. It has been reported that Champat Rai was unable to answer several questions, and the police may summon him again for further questioning if necessary. During the interrogation, he asserted that he had no involvement in the alleged donation theft. The police are now set to compare his statements with evidence from other witnesses, documents, and facts that emerged during the investigation. Following the SIT's preliminary report, police have initiated further actions, and it is anticipated that the SIT will arrive in Ayodhya in the first week of July to complete its investigation and submit a final report to the government.
